Logistics Engineering

Logistics planning has an enormous financial impact on any manufacturing industry. The logistics function of The Virtual Engineer can be improved and streamlined to achieve significant reductions in cost and, conversely, improvements in logistics planning efficiency.

The logistics module is a tool that can capture data, create tables and reports, calculate costs and optimize roots all before the engineer begins to work. It runs in concert with the Virtual Engineer's other modules to reduce Total System Cost.

With a planning tool so in-depth, The Virtual engineer will help the purchasing community to make more educated sourcing decisions based on a wider variety of cost effects through out the supply chain. Our objective is not only to determine optimal routing schemas for each individual supplier, but it is also to chose routing schemas that will optimize the entire supply chain.

The process begins by:
  • Based on a pre-determined set of how costs are incurred for every mode, analyze and chose the optimal transportation mode for each supplier.
  • Determine which suppliers can implement further optimization through the use of Milk Run routes or combined supplier routes
  • Set up a step by step routing plan for every supplier
  • Assign all shipping times, volumes and specific dock doors to all shipments.
  • Bid out routes on-line to any carrier of your choice
  • On-line approval system for all Suppliers, Distribution Centers, Carriers, Plants and logistics departments to verify all shipment information
  • Standard reporting available for all key logistics information
